Early August is classic west coast summer in the Great Bear Rainforest. The days remain warm and dry, rivers run clear, and alpine and coastal terrain are fully accessible for exploration.

This is an ideal time for heli-hiking, via ferrata, rainforest walks, scenic river drifts, and heli-accessed mountain adventures that reveal the scale and diversity of the Coast Mountains. Long daylight hours and golden evening light create exceptional conditions for photography and outdoor dining on the lodge deck.

With summer still in full expression and a relaxed rhythm throughout the valley, early August offers a refined wilderness escape defined by big landscapes, open skies, and unhurried adventure.

This August, we invite you to stay a little longer and experience more. Enjoy a complimentary night when you stay three or more nights. Offer available for bookings confirmed by April 30, 2026. Rates below reflect the complimentary night. Offer valid on new bookings only.

Late August marks the transition from summer into the ecological rhythms of autumn. As the first salmon begin their journey upstream, grizzly bears start to move out of the subalpine and into the river systems to begin their fall feeding season.

This is a dynamic and evolving period in the valley. Some years, bears arrive early, and sightings can be frequent; in others, their movements are more gradual, and observation opportunities are more intermittent. Throughout the season, our experienced wildlife guides adapt each day’s itinerary to current conditions, maximizing opportunities for meaningful encounters while delivering a rich wilderness experience regardless of bear activity.

Warm temperatures and generally settled weather continue to provide excellent conditions for river drifts, interpretive rainforest walks, assisted climbing adventures, and heli-accessed exploration — offering a beautifully balanced blend of summer adventure and early-season wildlife viewing.

This August, we invite you to stay a little longer and experience more. Enjoy a complimentary night when you stay three or more nights. Offer available for bookings confirmed by April 30, 2026. Rates below reflect the complimentary night. Offer valid on new bookings only.
