At Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, guiding guests into the wild beauty of the Bella Coola Valley is a privilege, one that comes with a deep responsibility to protect not only our guests and staff but also the wildlife and ecosystems we encounter.
As proud members of the <a href="https://www.bearviewing.ca/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Commercial Bear Viewing Association of British Columbia (CBVA)</a>, we are committed to the highest standards of ethical wildlife viewing and wilderness safety. Our guides follow CBVA protocols designed to minimize human impact while maximizing guest safety and wildlife protection.
Our culture of safety is built on decades of experience and continuous learning. We believe that when guests are well-informed and aware, they become active participants in preserving both their own wellbeing and the integrity of the wilderness we’re here to explore.

Waiver & Release Agreement

All activities offered at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge are led by experienced guides with professional training. Safety is always our number one priority.
While risks can be managed, they cannot be completely eliminated. All guests must complete our standard release of liability form acknowledging the risks associated with the activities. Package guests will sign a waiver upon arrival that covers all included activities. Guests staying on a nightly basis or walk-in guests will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival before participating in any activity.
We’ll do everything possible to keep you safe, but your participation matters too. Always follow guide instructions, ask questions if you’re unsure, and let us know if you have any medical conditions or concerns that could affect your participation.

Online Safety Briefing

Before your adventure begins, we invite you to complete a short online safety briefing designed to help you feel informed, prepared, and confident as you step into the wilderness with us. 
This quick and easy course covers the essentials from trail awareness and wildlife etiquette, providing a solid foundation for the experience ahead. 
Once you arrive at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, your guides will build on this knowledge with in-person insights tailored to the unique environment of the Bella Coola Valley. 
This is the first step in our thoughtful, ongoing approach to safety, one that ensures you feel supported every step of the way by a dedicated and experienced team.

Bear Viewing Safety

Tweedsmuir Park Lodge is proud to follow the best practices set out by the <a href="https://www.bearviewing.ca/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Commercial Bear Viewing Association of British Columbia (CBVA)</a>, an organization dedicated to sustainable bear viewing and the protection of wild bears and their ecosystems.
Our wilderness and wildlife guides are certified by the CBVA and have successfully passed their rigorous training and exams. This includes learning how to safely view bears in the wild while minimizing risk for both guests and the animals themselves.

Around The Lodge

Your experience at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge goes far beyond our guided adventures; it includes the full lodge environment, from cabins and common areas to walkways, parking areas, and extensive trail networks. Throughout the property, you’ll see safety signage designed to protect both guests and staff. Please take a moment to read and respect all signs, as they are an important part of keeping everyone safe.
The natural environment in Bella Coola can present challenges, even when you’re not out exploring. Wet or uneven surfaces are common around the lodge, especially in transition areas between indoors and outdoors. Many types of footwear, including hiking boots and casual shoes, may not offer ideal traction in these conditions. We encourage all guests to move with care, particularly in the evenings or after consuming alcohol.
