Early summer is also a great time to visit the Bella Coola valley with milder temperatures and less holiday traffic. Here's some more great reasons to stay with us in June and July (oh yeah, June has low season rates too!).

Fishing!

If you are a fisherman or interested in the salmon ecology on the coast, this is the time for Chinook/Spring Salmon!

Babies!

Early summer is the time for young wild animals to take their first steps out of their den or nest.  Black bear cubs as small as 4 pounds scamper around their mum, ducklings float in a single file chirping. Grizzlies can be seen at this time of year, just not as frequently as in October or September. They haven't been long out of hibernation and will be on the look out for food!

Special Events!

There's a couple of really fun, family-friendly, events at this time of year;

Bella Coola Music Festival - From the event website: "Bask in the pristine landscape of British Columbia’s Central Coast, as you enjoy intimate performances by award-winning artists from across Canada, served up with the unique hospitality for which we are known. Our family-oriented event boasts a diverse line-up of music: roots, rock, world, blues, folk and more. Sunday afternoons feature an interactive Children’s Site with special performances for children of all ages."

Bella Coola Rodeo - "One of the largest amateur rodeos in Western Canada, takes place annually on the Canada Day weekend.  A rodeo in this small community is a wild event, as cowhands show their skills kicking off with a gymkhana, and competing in bronco riding, barrel racing, calf tie-down, team roping, bull riding and the infamous cow patty bingo" (from bellacoola.ca).
