A trip you will never forget! Fly to Bella Coola from Vancouver and spend three nights at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge before heading to Vancouver Island via BC Ferries.  By doing the Discovery Coast Passage this way, you will not be in need of a rental car for your stay with us at the Lodge and you will avoid the expense of taking a car on the ferry. We can arrange your transfer to the ferry in Bella Coola and you can rent a car in Port Hardy on Vancouver Island for the rest of your trip.

As part of your Discovery Coast Tour, we recommend the three night, Tweedsmuir Park Explorer package designed as an introduction to the area surrounding our Lodge. There is a day hiking on the valley trails, a day floating down the Atnarko River, and a day on the back roads for a more extended view of this magical country. All activities are hosted and led by qualified professionals with a wealth of local knowledge and stories. In addition to the scenery and wildlife, there is also an interesting local history. After all, Bella Coola is the terminus of Alexander Mackenzie’s historic crossing of the North American continent in 1793, a full 12 years before Lewis and Clark. Our guides will bring this history and geography to life for you.

The BC Ferries journey from Bella Coola to Port Hardy is simply magical.  The trip through the fjord and down the coast offers potential whale watching, eagle viewing, and sightseeing within the incredible mountain peaks and rugged coastline. Once on Vancouver Island, there are activities for everyone in your group from beachcombing to wine tours!
