Annalee McCoy- assistant lodge manager
Annalee believes life is all about balance, and is passionate both as a career woman and world traveler.
In addition to being a certified personal trainer and a Raynor therapeutic massage professional, Annalee is our summer lodge manager. We'd like to have her year round, but at heart she is a gypsy wanderer and five months in one location is the best we can get.
Annalee was born in Bella Coola in the winter of 1984. Her early years were spent first in the valley, then in 1988, after the birth of her younger brother, Dillon, the family moved to a ranch in the remote 'town' of Kleena Kleene, on the Chilcotin Plateau. Although the ranch had electricity, there was no running water and the family was often 'snowed in' for most of the winter. Raising horses, which was Annalee's main passion as a child, some beef on the ranch, and also growing vegetables and fruit on the farm in Bella Coola, the family was self-sustaining for many years.
Spending some time in the Eastern Sierra of California and also making trips to Ontario, Annalee was a seasoned traveler before she was in her teens. After her parents’ divorce in 1991, Annalee and her younger brother began to divide their time not only between the Kleena Kleene ranch and the farm in Bella Coola, but also attending school in Anahim Lake. The happy result of her mother's second marriage was the birth of her little sister in 1992, and in 1996, her father's new relationship resulted in a new baby brother as well. In 1999 a family road trip to Alaska to attempt a visit with this new sibling ended in California where Annalee lived with relatives and attended Bishop Union High, the school where her father, aunts, uncles and cousins had studied before her. This time spent in Bishop, although hard on her family back in Canada, was an amazing experience for Annalee. She was a skier when she arrived, and when she left the Sierra the next summer, she had added snowboarding to her list of favourite things to do.
On her return to British Columbia in 2000, Annalee lived in Williams Lake during the school year, the Chilcotin during the summer, and wherever she could in between. In 2002, she graduated high school from Columneetza Secondary. That winter she moved to Prince George to attend the College of New Caledonia, and in 2005 graduated with a diploma of Human Kinetics. After graduation Annalee was a highly successful personal trainer, working both at Women's Zone and the UNBC Sports Center.
In 2007 Annalee backpacked around the UK and Europe for 3 months with her cousin. After her return to Prince George, she had become restless, and her desire to travel and spend more time in the outdoors began to beckon. The summer of 2008 she took time off work to spend a few months in Bella Coola. After working at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge for the summer season, Annalee ventured a few months in Costa Rica, followed by some work in the East Kootenays, but then found her way back to Bella Coola. She now enjoys balancing her variety of jobs and still finds some time each year to travel.
