Our helicopter adventures are designed to accommodate many different levels of fitness and interest. From short leisurely walks to long strenuous hikes, where even ropes may be needed, each of our hikes has one goal in common. This goal is to expose our guests to wild and beautiful places that would otherwise be inaccessible. Whatever your age, all are welcome.

Most people who visit the pristine Bella Coola valley will not be able to experience the alpine wonderland this area has to offer. Getting above the tree line often involves long strenuous hiking and unpleasant bush whacking. Our heli-hiking tours are the fastest way to get you up to the incredible views and hikes.

These helicopter hiking excursions will bring you to places where few have wandered. This part of the British Columbia Coast Range mountains includes some of the most wild and rugged mountain ranges Canada has to offer. Together with your guide you will experience smooth polished granite ridge walks, vistas of snow-capped mountains, and views of deep valleys and fjords. We will follow emerald green lakes touched by ancient glaciers and past small tarns surrounded by numerous varieties of alpine wildflowers. The possibilities of viewing mountain goats, bears, eagles and a myriad of local wildlife are here. You will reach peaks that make you feel as if you are on top of the world. This is a photographers paradise.

Guiding and safety

Your guide is a true professional with a lifetime of experience in the mountain wilderness. Your guide will make sure that your comfort level is met; but, can also push you slightly beyond what you thought you could do. You will learn from the guide’s knowledge of the flora, the fauna, the wildlife, the geography and the history of this amazing region. Our guides are highly trained and experienced. Guides carry first aid and communication equipment, and this includes a radio/satellite phone that will reach our helicopter base from all locations at all times.

Safety is our number one priority!

Mountains create their own unpredictable weather and cancellation due to conditions can happen at any time, even during the hike. The terrain is rugged and uneven. Guests should be in reasonable physical shape and  we request our guests to inform us, and their guide, if there is any medical or physical limitation we need to know about.

Sample helicopter hiking itinerary 

A typical day will start at 9 AM and end at 5 PM, however half days are also available.

Your helicopter hiking day starts at our helicopter base where you will be introduced to our base personnel and your helicopter pilot. A shuttle is included if you stay at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge. A mandatory helicopter safety orientation will be conducted before we lift off. Our helicopters are the A-Star B2 and are known as the Ferrari of helicopters.

The maximum load is five guests to one guide. A large part of the adventure is the helicopter ride itself, so be sure to have your camera handy. The helicopter will drop you at the starting point of your hike and pick you up at an alternate location at the end of the day. Wewill supply your lunch and it will be served in a suitable place. In addition to a scrumptious mountain lunch, healthy snacks are provided throughout the day...to keep you fueled and raring to go.
